Carmen Ibarra received her MS in School Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2017 and acquired additional certifications to conduct assessments with the Spanish-speaking population and autism community. As a former Assistant-Speech Language Pathologist (SLP-A), Carmen has worked with the bilingual community since 2012. Since then, she has formed part of an autism symposium in Lagos, Nigeria, as one of twenty guest speakers. She also served as a volunteer at the very first autism clinic that opened in Tamaulipas, Mexico collaborating with the intake team in implementing technology as part of their assessment process and utilizing various behavior techniques and strategies. As a bilingual Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP), she specializes in conducting bilingual evaluations in school settings throughout the Houston area. She also forms part of a Bilingual Leadership Team that serves as a resource for school psychologists, particularly those working with bilingual communities in school. Carmen's research and clinical interests include autism, suicidality, and other mental health disorders, early intervention challenges with under-resourced families, and challenges in identifying children with mental health disorders from culturally and linguistically diverse families in schools and clinical settings.
