Dr. Elana Wolkoff is an Associate Professor and Associate Director of Field Education in the Department of School Psychology at William James College. She is a licensed school psychologist and educational psychologist. Elana earned a bachelor's degree from Hampshire College, a Master of Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a Doctorate in School Psychology from Northeastern University. Prior to her doctoral training, Elana worked as a high school special education teacher. Since completing her pre-doctoral internship at South Shore Mental Health in Quincy, MA, Elana has engaged in a wide range of professional roles, including: 15 years as a practicing school psychologist for Cambridge and Wellesley Public Schools; Founding Member and Director of Student Support at Boston Collegiate Charter School; clinical and special education consultant to Boston area charter schools; and faculty member at William James College. Elana's interests include: school based consultation; developing resilience for vulnerable youth; teaching self-regulation and executive functioning skills; having difficult conversations; and increasing educational equity. She has presented on topics including Responding to School Refusal and Truancy, Developing Resiliency through Growth Mindset, Teaching Children to Self-Regulate, Creating Trauma Informed Classrooms, Having Difficult Conversations, and Supervision of School Psychology Trainees.
