PO087: Who Let the Dogs in: Animal-Assisted Interventions in Schools



School psychologists can incorporate animal-assisted interventions into their services and advocate for student disability needs. This presentation will review three different AAI modalities that are most commonly used in schools.

  • develop strategies to advocate for students who require use of a service animal
  • understand the role of a school psychologist when a student or family requests the use of an emotional support animal
  • differentiate between the various reasons that a student may benefit from having an animal present at school
